I FELT IT IN MY SLEEP is a musical and visual art project from the cold forests around Raleigh, North Carolina. The brainchild of multimedia artist William Murray, it musically borrows from drone - ambient - noise - dub - techno - industrial - doom metal - black metal - slowcore - grindcore & glitch.A strong visual element is also present, with much of the artwork being xerox scanner collage artwork, or abstract painting. Visually inspired by outsider art, xerox artwork present in underground music and zine making, abstract-expressionism, and manga.Deep in the veins of the project is a strong DIY ethos, meaning home recording, love for Lo-Fi, home manufacture and distribution of physical copies, word of mouth, live performance at small DIY venues, zine publication, show taping, xerox scanning, and love for the scene.Thematically, the output of I FELT IT IN MY SLEEP is of existentialism, nihilism, loneliness, loss, death, mental illness, the human condition, and the reality of consciousness.I felt it in my sleep is a proud member of the Passed Recordings label / collective.William Murray also runs the label and distro Cornus Audio Visual + is the curator for the Zine Catharsis. He is also a writer and photographer.
